If you could find the quote, that'd be great.
Also, I found searched through some of Regina's posts on Guru (idk about other fansites) and here's what I found about PAX.
From here
I guess it doesn't sound to hopeful for GW2 info. Looks like Aion will still be the spotlight.

I've asked both Martin and Regina for an official statement to confirm it won't be, so I'll post it if I get one and I've linked them this thread too so they may just post to say either way

That statement about PAX just fails on all sorts of levels. Awesome way to keep your Guild Wars fans happy and informed. Who cares about Aion because other than flying it offers nothing new. COH/COV is going down hill because once Champions Online releases COH/COV will be more of a ghost town than it already is now.

The statement from Regina specifically mentions that ARENANET will be at PAX. Not GW1/GW2.
So while giving the focus of PAX to Aion, it seems they aren't leaving out the possibility of releasing something about GW2 then. It seems unlikely, but it looks like they're trying not to tie their hands, so that if they're able to get something to show at PAX, if they cannot, they won't.
The official page on PAX (i might have been looking at last years though) on the gw website makes no mention of it though, so it is unlikely there will be anything on GW2. Besides, Anet has taught me not to expect much recently. :/

We probably will only get information like "there wont be a level cap" or "the game will take place on Tyria" + concept art.
So basicly, nothing we didnt already think will happen.

Anet's only game is Guild Wars, what else could Anet talk about other than GW?
Perhaps the GW2 Books?
Screw Aion, Aion is out in 2 months, GW2 is out in about 2 years.
Someone tell me how GW2 is going to compete against Aion?
If GW2 and Aion were to be released, at the same time I could see the problem.

Yes, it was a mistake, especially all those promised screenshots and movies as well as the playable beta in 2008. Only promise what you can deliver.

I spent MANY a spare hour playing Guild Wars. I ran out of things to do though. Other than grind away for my Walking Amoung Mere Mortals title I have nothing left.
Despite saying I will never pay to play I have gone against my word and moved to WoW. I check GW all the time, but reading about community ran hide and seek event's isn't going to get me to come back. I'll buy GW2, no doubt about it. Anet need to keep their fanbase informed. It's the main thing I missed when Gaile left.

Even if Arenanet released Information during PAX, who is to say we will like it? What's enough info? A painting? A screen? A cgi trailer? The Korean Branch is already into Blade&Soul, their Mmo after Aion sheduled for late 2010. Will a Gw2 timetable be enough?
Gw2 can neither avoid Competing NC games, nor competing games of other publishers forever. It'll be interesting to see how marketing will tackle GW2. I don't think Twitter and Facebook will sell games. In the past the hype cycle of Arenanet was considerably shorter and post release hype was limited to pvp tournaments with expensive prices. That did not create the amount of buzz and chatter on the net that competing MMOs achieved with a simple update patch.

Yes, it was a mistake to announce it that early.
And also:
Yes, it was a mistake to stop extending GW1.
And also:
More PvP-love was needed to keep many players because GW is unique through it's PvP but there are better PvE games. The only reason why people keep playing GW PvE is for useless grinding/farming and because it's FREE.

And yet people are saying they will buy GW2 and there was supposed to be a beta last year and we haven't even seen a screenshot. I may be wrong, but I believe even you said this Mordakai.
The Old Republic:
No release date (but expected in '10)
No beta
Concept art
Screenshots
Trailers
Gameplay info
Fully voiced
Building a fanbase community NOW
GW2:
Some generic lore
No release date (but '10-'11 guessed from a ncsoft business timeline)
No beta (half a year after they said there would be)
No screenshots
A few scraps of "unofficial" concept art
GW1 fanbase on the decline
And no one knows WTH will be GW2's selling points, aside from that it will have all the things GW1 should have had in the first place
Hmmmm, which one do I want to be the fanboi of here? The other guy had it somewhat right.

That's why I think GW2 is coming on about the 5 year anniversary of Guild Wars. It's far enough away from Aion's launch. It gives them plenty of time to explode on the scene without fizzling. It might be set to beat TOR and D3 out the gates. A.Net likes doing things on their anniversaries. Regina says they are meeting their in-production marks. Etc., etc., etc. Time will tell, but this is what I see through the chaos.

Hypothetically thinking, if Anet releases GW2 on their anniversary, then they have to have BETA soon. Maybe they announce beta at PAX?
